First, I just have to tell you that I can FINALLY see in my studio thanks to these awesome light I found on Amazon. They took me about 5 minutes to install and oh my goodness...they are so bright. I only needed two in my studio and added one to my garage and one to my laundry room. Just had to share.

I did want to check in and say a quick hello to everyone. Surviving the heat wave here in western Pa has made working with all things "wool" a bit icky but I did manage to post some more wool bundles on my WOOL FOR SALE page and have more to come (if the weather allows, haha).

Trying to keep my spirits up while continuing to battle what they now think is a resurgence of and/or aggravation of the neuroinvasive west nile due to another mosquito bite. Personally I don't think they really know what the heck the problem is and I can tell you the pain has been off the charts...the hubs has been great in what seems to be our nightly ritual now where he lathers me up with BenGay, wraps hot towels around my arms and legs and then rubs as hard as he can...it doesnt actually take the pain away, but it does help while he does it. Man, you should see my arms and legs though since they are bruised from how hard he is squeezing but the muscles tighten up like bricks and I beg him to squeeze harder and he is always afraid he's going to hurt me...poor guy !!!

Anyway, I do have a bit of good news to pass along to all of you who have been diligently praying for me (and thank you so much)....As most of you know I am chronically awake (insomnia) and survive on as little as 3 hours a day if I am lucky. Well in a recent turn of events I have been falling asleep before the hubs...like hours before him...like at 10 pm and sleeping till 8 am with very few interruptions. The first night it happened I was panicked that I wouldn't sleep at all the next night, which is what normally happens. Well, and I say this crossing my fingers that I dont jinx it, but I have now slept 8-10 hours per night for 5 nights running !!! Now I have no clue why or how long it will last but I am happy about it to be sure but the hubs thinks it has to do with the energy I am using when these intense pain periods ...me ? I dunno...just happy to have something to be happy about right now.

Okay, well this is NOT a health blog so I guess I should show you some of the things the hubs and I picked up on our way back from Virginia in May...I love them all !
He did pretty good too...since he's out of work I told him I would hire him to take all my pictures from now on !!!!

Well, I am pretty wiped out right now and need to try to get some rest...following the docs orders to rest and try not to stress (yeah, okay, I can do that).

I miss you all and I do read your blogs even though I may not always be commenting. Thanks for all of your love and support during this very hard time...you all mean so much to me !

Grace to you,
Before I knew what hit me the PHM update time was here again and I just cant believe it.

Now I must admit, I have been pretty darn sick...only left my house twice since I last wrote to you all. Yes, I am sick of being here and you would think I would be bored out of my gourd (what does that mean anyway ...just a western Pa saying ?) and have lots of time for being online and catching up but no, my body seems to want to really fight with me and I think it's winning....feels like my "behind" and the rest of me for that matter, has been hit by a bus, run over by a car and then beaten with a baseball bat.

I haven't gotten much hooking done since my hands wont work right and I have tons of wool ready to list if I can just spend a day down in my shop but I have only left my bedroom a few days this month. The poor hubs has been scrounging for food ...the man is nearly perfect but he doesn't cook. Normally we balance each other out and he does the laundry and the ironing and I do the grocery shopping and cook all his favorite meals. Well, have you ever just not gone to the grocery store for a month ? Yeah, neither had I and I keep my pantry pretty full since I cant get it through my head that my boys have moved out and my grocery bill doesn't need to come close to the national debt every month (like that could even be possible, but dont get me started). So we have had lots of pizza and ice cream...good thing I stocked up on those Digiorno pizza's when they were on sale for $3.98 and I had $1.50 coupons....sweetest deal on those pizzas ever, but alas, even though I filled 2 entire shelves in the freezer (I bought 20), they are gone and we are on our last half gallon of ice cream so I had better feel better soon or the hubs is going to have to get better at spotting deals when I send him for lettuce and milk !

Oh my, I have been going on and on. Okay...just a quick peek at one of the items I have for sale over at Primitive Handmades Mercantile this month....I have seen the other gals listings (since I am almost always last to get done) and they are fabulous...honestly, they are just gorgeous so hit that little button that has the name on in to the right and go ver there and have a look around.

Ok...here's what I listed. Now mind you, I was sick, so I think I actually got a lot done from my bedroom and sending Jim down to the shop with a list (Oh and the shop never got put back together from the retreat and the trip to Va so its a disaster).

So there you have it gals....And this time I am making no promises of when the next post will be but I do promise to think of you all and will post again as soon as I am able.

I first want to encourage you all to go over to Primitive Handmade Mercantile (you can click my button to the right) and see all of the beautiful items the gals have made this month...there are some beautiful primitive items for sale there and I am always amazed at the vast amount of talent in our group. Here are the two items I made for the May update...

"Curly Q Sheep"
This sheep mat was what I worked on at the recent retreat in West Virginia in late April. It was the first time I used the technique of ripping the wool into strips instead of cutting it. The strips are all approximately one half inch wide and it really has a lovely effect on the wool...it curls in on the ends and is just so prim perfect !

"Freedom"
This mat is the second in my Patriot Rug Series. You may remember the first rug was entitled "Liberty". I have plans for 2 more in the series.

Now, if you will bare with me for a few personal reflections, I would really appreciate it since I know I owe you all an explanation to my lack of posting. I know it is unacceptable for me to be so sporadic in my posting and updating my blog... all I can say is that I am a schlub and that I am so very sorry...I have no other decent excuse. Sure, I have been super busy, but so are all of you. Sure I have health issues that keep me away from my computer, but so do many of you. Sure I have other responsibilities, but so do all of you. Sure I don't sleep, but many of you don't sleep much either. We are all busy women ! As always, I am humbled that you gals even tune in to read what I have to say and I know that lately I have really let you all down.

Today that changes and I vow to do my VERY best to not let that happen again. I have resisted asking my doctors to increase my medications because I know that, at some point, unless God chooses to heal me or provide a cure, the meds will continue to lose their effectiveness and I will be at the end of the road with no clue how to manage the pain in a matter of just a few years, a decade at most, so say the experts ! Well, then I am going to make this the best decade that I can !!! I want my life back, even if it is shorter.

That being said, I know some of you have asked me about when I will have some more blue, green and red woolens up for sale...well the dye pots are fired up and so am I. Those of you with current orders, they will be mailed out this weekend. I am trusting God to move me and my business forward ! On our recent trip to Virginia I was able to get lots of what I am calling "Woolies" ready for sale too. They are perfect for those of you who make penny rugs or applique. Those, along with lots more of my regular wool bundles will also be up by the weekend.

I do ask for your prayers as I am in the process of finalizing the colors for my upcoming new dye book...I know, I know....why put one more thing on my plate right ? Well, because so many of you have asked for it, that's why !

Loads more to tell you, but that will have to wait...I have wool to rinse and today is such a beautiful day to dry the wool on the line !!!

Until next time,
Grace to you,
Margie
Oh my goodness I have "oh so much" to share with you all. I have been a very busy gal getting ready for and then going to the Woolen Willow Rug Hooking & Quilting Retreat in the majestic mountains of West Virginia...but, you will have to wait till tomorrow to hear (and see) all that I did there because, silly old me left an entire, yes entire large bag, including most of my goodies, in my friend Teresa's car and she kindly mailed it out to me today....so I promise to catch you up on all the fun from the retreat as soon as I have all my pics fixed up and my bag back....It has all my projects from the retreat !!! Thank goodness the package only had to come across the state of Pa from Teresa's house near Carlisle to my house near Pittsburgh...I could not believe it when I got Teresa's text saying she found a wonderful bag of wool and a pretty sheep rug in her car when she unpacked, lol. Sending a huge "Thank You" out to Teresa of Teresa's Primitive Treasures...wait till you see what she hooked while we were there....It is "to die for"...she is really incredibly talented and a sweetheart too.

Okay, but just so you know...you havent wasted your time popping in today...I have pictures of all the yummy things Lecia, from Farmhouse Prims, sent me in a swap...Oh my, prepare to repent because you may commit a little covetousness when you drool with envy over what she sent me !!!

I have been wanting one of Lecia's bonnets for, well, forever and I kept hoping I would get her as my swap partner in one of the many swaps held by Amy over at Bumble Bee Lane Cottage...Sadly, after almost 2 years, I still hadn't gotten her as a swap partner (guess maybe I shoulda asked, huh?) so I finally just asked if she would like to swap sometime...Well, we worked out the particulars (although I dont feel the items I made her are even in the same league as what she sent me) and a big box arrived last week at my house with Lecia's return address. Now, by this time I was pressed for time to get ready to leave for the retreat and I got a wholesale order for some rug hooking kits (hooray...these was my first wholesale order) that needed to ship out before I left...so I decided to use that big box as an incentive to be my "reward" once I had completed all my tasks...Well I worked right up till it was time to walk out the door (no sleep for me) for the retreat so, sadly, I had to wait till I got home to open my package....

Well, it was more than worth the wait. Of course I should have taken a picture of how pretty everything looked wrapped up but, well, I had waited long enough !!! Oh my goodness...first of all, as soon as I opened the box I was enveloped by the most intoxicating smell...Oh it was just yummy, yummy, yummy.

So, you wanna see what she sent ? Of course you do...so here goes...

My goal this Easter is to remember and to really think about what the Savior did for me on the cross at Calvary...He not only suffered an agonizing death, spilling His blood to cover over my sin so that I could be free to have a relationship with God, but He went to Hell to take the keys of death from Satan's nasty grip and He had to stay there, suffering every imaginable evil for 3 long days...I mean think about it...Satan finally has Jesus right where he wants him and Satan thinks he won...after all, Jesus is in hell and God the Father turned His face away from Jesus...But Praise God, Satan and death didn't beat Jesus... He Rose Again and Won our freedom from sin and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father in Heaven . Every time I sin the Bible says Satan stands accusing me before God's throne, but then Jesus, my Lord and Savior, stands to defend me as He shows the stripes on his back where the whip filled with iron tore pieces of his flesh. He shows all the blood that was spilled, the scars around his head where a crown made of thorns was placed in mockery upon His head. He shows the holes left by large iron nails that were driven through his hands and feet. He shows His side, where He was pierced with a sword. He stands to jump to my defense...I who live carelessly, often not even giving the sacrifice He made a passing thought, yet there He stands, pleading my case before God...in essence reminding God that my sin is covered by His blood and that no matter what Satan says about me, I belong to Jesus.

In the gospel of John in chapter 17 you can read the beautiful prayer that Jesus prayed just hours before the crucifixion began..I have read that passage dozens (or more) times in my life but it brought tears to my eyes as I read it yesterday. You can hear the pleading in Jesus' voice as He asks the Father to keep each one of us who know Him safe from the evil one (Satan)... He prayed that God would keep us, keep me...protect me, be one with me and that God would keep revealing Himself to me ...

How humbled I feel today on this Good Friday and my prayer is that each of you will reach out to God through Jesus Christ and find His everlasting love, His mercy, His forgiveness and that it will transform your life as it did the disciples, and as it did mine.

Blessings and Grace to you,
Well, no...More liked BLESSED...Blessed with wonderful friends like Karen from My Colonial Home...She has been so sweet and kind to me since I entered this primitive blog world and yesterday I finally got to meet her !!! Yep, we have been trying to meet up for , well, forever it seems and yesterday we were both healthy enough to meet (although it was EARLY in the morning for me, lol). She has offered encouragement when I was at my lowest...she encouraged me to keep going when I felt like giving up and of course she has been there to listen and read my sometimes completely unreadable emails...I once emailed her after taking some sleeping pills and darned if there wasnt a single sentence that made a bit of sense but did she judge or scold ? No, she simply laughed and asked for clarification of what the heck I meant to say in the email...Yep, that's who she is. Oh and did I mention that she's not just generous with her praise and encouragement, but also wait until you see the gifts she showered me with when we met at Denny's for breakfast....

Just take a look at these wonderful, beautiful things she made for me....

First is this beautiful stitched wall pocket filled with lavender and sweet annie...It smells soooo yummy and it looks so pretty hanging in my bedroom.

But that wasnt all she had for me...She made me this beautiful pillow adorned with her signature pennies !!! Can you believe it ? What a generous lady but gals, the creme de la creme, the icing on the cake came next and it was so stunning it brought tears to my eyes...

Look at this beautiful, oversized penny rug she made especially for me...she even used wool that she got from me...I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it (as well as everything else) but more than that I love the fact that I got to finally meet my dear friend "Karen from Wisconsin" ( which is how I refer to her when I am telling my husband something about her....he cant keep all you gals straight and now he can put a face to the name because our hubbies tagged along for breakfast).

Just one more picture of the penny rug because I want you all to see the quality of Karen's work and her attention to detail...I mean look at those beautiful stitches...

Hello there gals...Sorry this is a tad bit late getting posted. We had some technical difficulties but we are up and working now. Okay, so most of you already know I am hosting my 2nd Annual Anniversary Giveaway and am offering prizes every Monday...All the contest rules are listed in the Giveaway button on the right hand side of my blog. I know, I know...I should know how to put a button/link right here in the text but, as most of you know, I am a teensy bit challenged in the "computer skills" area...in fact anyone/everyone who shares with me how to do that I will give you an extra entry in the giveaway week of your choice, just please send me an email, dont post here. Just remember, make it EASY to understand and assume I know NOTHING !!!

Well, as you can see form the picture above this weeks prize is a set of 3 wooden bowls that I have painted, aged and sealed. They are painted in some of my favorite colors... mustard, colonial blue and black. They are about 5" wide and 2" high.

Remember, the giveaway is open to everyone who is a follower and you can enter for today's prize on this post and you can enter for all the other weeks by going to each Monday's post and commenting on that post. Of course you get additional entries for blogging/tweeting/ facebooking about it, putting it on your sidebar, and sending me NEW followers. I will be posting each giveaway button on my sidebar so that you can get all those entries for each one...You will be able to get extra points for adding each weeks Giweaway button to your sidebar...Am I saying that clearly enough ? I hope so. I am still fairly sleep deprived but I did finally sleep last night...gotta a whole 6 hours for a grand total of 13 over 6 days !!! Grrrrrrr.

Ok, back to the giveaway...please remember to leave me your email address when you sign up...I have gotten SEVERAL entries that have no blog name/no email address so I would have no way of letting you know you won !!!

A quick note too...I do have a few more bundles of wool up and listed and I dyed a BUNCH this weekend and am bundling it up today.

Until next time,
I have to say having the hubs at home all the time is VERY different since he has worked 70+ hours a week for the last 10 years but can I let you in on a little secret ???? I LOVE HAVING HIM HOME SO MUCH...He is my very best friend and we have always loved spending time together and once he finds a new job I am going to be sooooo lonely again.

Ok, so even though I love having him home, gosh I cant seem to get anything done...I thought I would be more focused with him here and having to have dinner made so much earlier and everything, but well, not so much. Add to that the fact that I sprained my wrist and I have gotten next to nothing done...Well, maybe next to nothing is a stretch...I did get lots of new wools over dyed and listed so be sure to pop over to my WOOLS FOR SALE page and see what I have done.

Then, please stop over at www.primitivehandmadesmercantile.com to see what all the gals have made this month with our Easter theme...I continue to be amazed that I am allowed the honor of being in this group of such talented women. This month I made a cute little wool pillow with a hooked little chick...here's a sneak peek...

I am coming to you with a heavy, heavy heart...it's almost 6 am and, as usual, I haven't even drifted off to la-la land yet. As I was sitting and talking to my son yesterday around 4pm we heard the bells jingle on the kitchen door and in walks the hubs...This is surprising cuz he generally works till 8 or 9 pm. I immediately thought he must be sick, although he never, ever misses work even though he's on salary, he normally just works through the pain or discomfort.

When I saw his face I knew something was terribly wrong and he broke down and said that he had been let go from the company for which he has worked the last 9 years. I was not stunned since they have been systematically getting rid of most senior managers and even though the hubs and I had talked about the possibility of this happening, I don't really think he ever really thought it would happen to him....he works harder than any human being that I know..he gives it his all...and he has never been fired, ever ! He has made this company millions of dollars and has been in the Bronze Club for profit every single year except 2012...apparently the big wigs don't understand that the economy is bad here, nor do they care that the bus routes to the shopping center where the hubs store is have twice been cut this year. They dont seem to care that almost all the stores in that shopping center have closed and now 2 schools have taken their place, not to mention that you cant see the hubs store from the road and the company has refused his many requests for a sign.

They made him sign a non-compete agreement 3 years ago just two days before they rolled out the new bonus program...so basically he can not even look for a job in the same field within a certain mile radius. Oh and that new bonus structure they instituted....he ended up losing over $50,000 in gross bonus over the last 3 years...But he thought it was best to stick it out with the economy being like its been. He was apprehensive at maybe quitting a place he had seniority and a good record to take a job where he would be low man on the pole etc.

And then of course theres the issue of his health benefits which were the real reason I think he stayed there. As most of you know I have been ill since 2003 when I got neuro-invasive west nile virus which left me in a lot of pain and in need of a lot of medication/treatment. As I am typing this I am having my first bout of worry and fear even though I spent the entire evening reminding the hubs that God has been and always will be, our provider and that we have been through tougher spots than this...but ladies, if truth be told, I am more than a little nervous.

This all comes on the heels of my tooth breaking over the holidays and no I hadn't gotten around to seeing to it yet because my car died on me on Christmas eve...we thought we had it fixed and my son took it to his girlfriends house and it died there and we had to have it towed again...just got word that the engine needs replaced to the tune of $2500 which is more than the car is worth, so we are down to one vehicle and trying to figure out if there's a way to get any money for the car at this point.

I am tired gals, just really , really tired but I have got to hold it together !
So today I am asking for your prayers...prayers that he finds another job, prayers that I dont run out of medicine before he gets another job, prayers that I can keep it together and be strong for him, prayers that we can weather this storm with integrity and character.

I know God loves us and I know He has a perfect plan for us...I just need to be quiet so I can hear what it is. We do have a tiny bit of savings in the bank and my wool sales might need to be in the budget instead of "fun" money. I keep trying to tell Jim (aka the hubs) that it will all be ok but I am fearful that I am not making a compelling argument and I am afraid he can see right through me and see the fear. We can live on very little...we have done our best to not have too much debt but I am worried about the expense of my medical needs since it bankrupted us when I was first sick and I just cant go down that road again. We have finally been able to dig ourselves out of that hole and I just dont want to be smothered again !

I am sorry, I think I am just rambling now and worrying out loud...forgive me please for laying this out in what's supposed to be a fun blog about rug hooking and primitive decor but many of you have become my very dear friends...when you are housebound due to illness like I am for sometimes days and even weeks at a time, friendships fade because people get tired of asking you to do things only to have you cancel at the last minute because you couldnt lift your arms over your head to wash your hair or that you had never been able to get back upstairs because the steps were just too much to navigate or the pain was too intense or that you hadnt slept in several days and you just couldnt even talk on the phone because your hands hurt too much..but you guys, well, even though you are real people, you are in my virtual world where the expectations are different...

Gosh this is all just coming out wrong so I think I will just stop for now. Again, please pray for Jim and I...we have a good solid marriage but I know this is a blow to his ego and he takes great pride in his work and I just feel like I am a huge burden that cant contribute very much (I know thats not at all how he feels, but it is how I feel).

Until next time,
Grace to you,
MargieMargiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10240075608741922041noreply@blogger.com36tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3811871420245899947.post-988432584411143462013-01-03T10:07:00.000-05:002013-01-03T10:08:14.219-05:00Catching up & BIG WOOL SALE Going on NOWHi everyone...I hope you all had spectacular holidays filled with wonderful memories that will warm your hearts for years to come. Me ? Well, this was just a downright odd, but very happy, Christmas. I never really got into the spirit of things, never got a cookie baked, didnt like the gifts I picked for anyone and just all around didnt FEEL like it was Christmas until just a couple of days ago when it finally snowed ! I felt rushed and hurried and just out of sorts.

But I do need to say a big thank you to all who have prayed and offered kind words of encouragement to my son Kyler (the Marine) while he was deployed. One of THE BEST gifts and answer to prayer happened when he got home here in Pa on Dec 23 and I cant tell you how many times I have hugged that boy since then. He will be here till the 13th and I think I can finally get back to my "normal" activities since he is spending lots of time at his fiance's. Wow, have we been running though....He took my car the first day he was home to go to the Steeler game in Pittsburgh and, well, lets just say he is HARD on vehicles, which is why we dont allow him to drive our good car lol. Well, long story short, it left him stranded 30 minuted from home and we had to get it towed and are still waiting to hear what the complete damage will be...no idea if it was something he did or if its just that the car is getting old...she's a 2004 but only has 76,000 miles on it and , up until now has been pretty great, but I dont drive much and we keep up on maintenance etc and well, like I said, he drives like a typical 20 year old Marine ! Sooooo, we have been driving him back and forth to his girls house or we go and get her (she has no car either...grrrrr) and it literally costs us $7.00 for each trip plus it adds an extra hour to the hubs already LONG days. Oh and I have to tell you he got me some francinsence from Jordan and a beautiful linen scarf in Kuwait. So I think that would have been plenty but he said he had read that crime was getting worse due to the economy so he also bought me some Bear Repellent Spray to keep in my purse...yes, he has an eclectic personality ! Here's a picture of he and his fiance...They make such an adorable couple...

OK, well I also got another great gift on Christmas Eve...we had a beautiful candle light service and I was so pleased to be there with the hubs, Kyler and his fiance Ashlee but the night got better cause when we got home, my older son Kirk (who moved to Virginia back in the spring) was there waiting to suprise me...he worked that whole day until 3:30 and drove straight to our house ( a 6.5 hr drive) and literally had to leave the next day by 5 pm...He and his girlfriend Nikki were both so sweet to make that kind of sacrifice for me and I love them for doing it...just wish I had done more, you know...I only partially decorated, didnt bake or anything...and I had already sent his gifts to Virginia and I didnt evne have enought stuff to make our traditional Christmas morning breakfast buffet ! Neither he or his girlfriend like to get pictures taken but I did manage to get my 3 guys to pose for one just for me...

The hubs and I decided not to exchange gifts this year since so many people in our community and church were really hurting. Since I am the program director for our church foodbank, I knew we had lots of people who needed help and since I stock the pantry completely on what I can get from savvy shopping and couponing (church members bring me all their coupon inserts so it helps alot), I knew we were going to have to add more to it from our own funds than what we normally do. We have a very small church...maybe 60-100 if everyone shows up, but we do more outreach than most of the large and even the mega churches we have attended. Anyway, it did feel good to make sure that every needy family in our church (and several outside our church that people asked us to help) got nice big laundry baskets filled with food, cleaning products, health & beauty items and even diapers where needed..."Joy" was what I felt when we gave those baskets away...Just 8 years ago our family was on the receiving end of that type of program and it feels so good to be able to give back even in a bad economy.

Well I guess I have caught you up on the personal side...I am working on lots of Valentine projects at the moment in the workshop and in an effort to start the year off right I have a HUGE WOOL SALE going on right now with some deep discounts to make room for new arrivals, so be sure to click on the WOOL FOR SALE page on the right hand side of my blog. I will be having a Blog Yard Sale soon and will also be listing some of my finished projects for sale at deep discounts too so keep checking back. Once I get all the Christmas stuff put away it will be back to the dye pots so if you have any requests just shoot me an email.

Until next time,
Grace to you,

I did see some of the other gals updates already and they have some lovely things for sale this month too. I have taken a little break from hooking since my hands are not cooperating lately...went to see the doctor this past Wednesday (yeah, like I had time for that) and he says he has helped me as far as he can and he's sending me to see another pain specialist...GRRRRRRRR...I just want them to find out WHY I am such a mess (other than I had West Nile...hello, that was 9 years ago...can I get fixed or not ?) Ooooooh yikes I am getting crabby ...so sorry ladies. Just getting tired of the same old same old...

But, I hope you are all happy and ready for a delightful Christmas holiday...I know I might never have my house clean enough, or have enough cookies baked, have lost enough weight, found the "perfect" gift for everyone on my list, or even feel very good but I do know I need to count my blessings and be grateful for all the wonderful blessings in my life ...My son is back stateside and will be home in about 24 hours...life is good and in light of the terrible tragedy in Connecticut, my problems seem pale by comparison. I hope we can all just hug our loved ones, hold them tightly and remember that life could be so much worse...

On that note...merry Christmas everybody and have a happy new year !

Until next time,

Grace to you,

Ok...first I have to tell you that Kendra lives in a little town in northern Illinois...dot on the map if truth be told but guess what ? I used to live there back in the 90's...small world right ? We knew lots of the same places and she is just the kind of person who lives there too...sweet, salt of the earth, hard working and totally awesome !!!

Well I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her during this swap and found we have TONS of things in common and I am sure once you see all the goodies she spoiled me with you will understand that this gal TOTALLY GETS ME !!! We like sooo many of the same things and it was like she was inside my head...seriously...look at all the treasures she made or chose for me...

First this big box....patience...or at least thats what I told myself as I ran for the camera...and we all know I DONT RUN !

And out of that box came gift after beautifully wrapped gift...

And ooooooooooh just look at how pretty these items are...

Plus she made me this....

and these smell yummy enough to eat !

I am busy finding homes for everything but did want to show you where I put a few of the things...

Funny thing...see that vintage skate with the gingerbread man ??? I actually made that for Kendra and then was reading her blog and saw that she already had one...so I thought it looked just perfect with all the things she sent me...what do you think ?

I just love this little Genoa salt glazed ornie...Kendra knew I collect salt glaze and it was just sooo thoughtful !

And isn't this ornie just too sweet ??? Oh and the candle made the house smell sooooo heavenly. Add to that some of her homemade gardners salve, cookie mix, soap and sweet grocery list and you can call me spoiled rotten...I have already told Kendra I think she over did it but I just want to publicly thank her and Amy of course for hosting another wonderful swap.

I am busy trying to finish my items for next week Primitive Handmades Mercantile update and I have lots of Before and After projects to show you all but as usual I am running behind. I am not sure how that happens...when I had 3 kids at home and worked full time I got more done !!!

I have been saving THE BEST news for last...the best Christmas gift of all time ....we just got word a few days ago that our son Kyler, the Marine who has been deployed for over 9 agonizingly long months, will be arriving at our house on December 22nd ! YIPPEE YIPPEE YIPPEE

I have been so depressed because his deployment had been extended and they thought he could be gone a few more months...add to that this is the first Christmas our other son, Kirk, wont be with us either. Since moving to Virginia back in June he has been home a few times but he cant get time off work over Christmas...and of course our daughter, Kait is out in Colorado so I thought we would be completely alone (and I was not really handling it very well...couldnt get in the Christmas spirit at all). Now I am in major Christmas RUSH mode...no cookies baked yet, not a single gift purchased yet and I am not sure I will ever get the outside lights up this year...At least the trees are bought and put up and I have one decorated (Light fiasco to follow another day, lol).

Well...I know this was a long post...thanks for sticking with me ! Many hugs and much love to all of you !

Grace to you,
I wanted to thank all of you who entered my Black Friday Giveaway and announce the winner...drum roll please..and the winner is... Carmen over at www.primcats.blogspot.com . The hubs pulled her name out of the hat this morning ! Congrats Carmen !

I am hoping to get some Christmas decorating done today and then maybe work on adding labels to some great old bottles I have been collecting. Remember last year when I was decopauging everything in sight and did the tutorial on just how easy it is to get that great old fashioned look ? Remember these ...

I absolutely love adding these old labels to stacking boxes and one neat trick I sometimes do is put a regular label on one side and a Christmas label on the otherside so all I have to do is turn them around...no storage !!!

Oh and I think one of my all time favorites was my octagonal hat box that I painted a great deep red and then added 3 great graphics that I printed out on full 8 1/2 x 11 paper and then decopauged and stained...

I just love the old world feel of this box...and its a great size at 13" tall and has 3 great labels so it looks gorgeous from any angle...Last year I had several people ask if I was willing to sell it and I wasn't but this year money is tight so I am considering selling it...so if anyone wants to make me an offer, just send me an email.
I will be posting my newest creations over the next couple of days. I have soooooo many things to add labels to and am excited to get started...I have pantry boxes, hat boxes, old crocks, wooden crates etc...fun, fun, fun !!!
Remember that THEY work for US. Sometimes I think they need a little reminder of that and election day is the best time to make your voice heard.
